Men Who Cook
The Lamar Educational Awards Foundation presents this fun evening each February

Moore Home Candlelight Tour
After undergoing extensive renovations, the John M. Moore Home in Richmond has
special holiday Candlelight tours in December. Visitors will see the home lit
by votive candles and hurricane lamps, with trimmed trees, decked halls and
festive holiday finery, created and decorated by the Fort Bend Museum’s docent organization. 281-342-6478
Railroad Museum
The Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroads purchased 200 acres in 1883 and laid
out the town site, naming it Rosenberg. The Railroad Museum combines the
history of rail in Fort Bend County, the people of the railroad and fun. The
museum is dedicated to teaching the history and growth of railways in Rosenberg
and Fort Bend County through a systematic collection and display of artifacts,
memorabilia, rolling stock, equipment and exhibits. The Museum is located at

Richmond House
Early Fort Bend was wild west, prairie pioneer and Old South cotton plantations
seasoned with Mexican outposts, Louisiana Creole and Comanche.
Richmond House is a restored turn-of-the-century mansion with carefully tended

Shrimp Fest
An event started 20 years ago by the Sugar Land Rotary Club, the Shrimp Fest
features Gulf shrimp, fried fish, corn on the cob and all the trimmings, plus
auctions and raffles and an afternoon of fun for the family. Proceeds from the
event support charities, scholarships and foreign exchange programs and the
establishment of a Sugar Land Rotary Park in the First Colony area. Held each
year in September, the Shrimp Fest is a fun way to support the Fort Bend

Spaghetti Cook-Off Dinner
The community is treated to some of the “best spaghetti served outside of Italy” each February. Sponsored by the Exchange Club of Sugar Land, this
family-oriented cook-off benefits Escape Family Center, Fort Bend Crime Stoppers and many other Fort Bend area charities
supported by the Exchange Club. Over 12 different law enforcement agencies cook
and serve great tasting spaghetti each year.
Sugar Land Antique Show & Sale
The Sugar Land Lions Club sponsors the Sugar Land Antique Show & Sale each October. Selected antique dealers from across the state feature fine,
old Texas pieces, and a wonderful array of Victorian oak, mahogany and country
furniture, as well as elegant glass and Depression glass, china, pottery and
perfume bottles.

Founded by Kevin and Trish Kline, Sugar Land Bash provides funding for the
Snowdrop Foundation, which supports continued pediatric cancer research at
Texas Children’s Cancer Center and scholarships for college-bound pediatric cancer patients and

Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center
Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center is a premier facility for ice skating, hockey, figure skating and
parties. The center features dual rinks, a pro shop, multiple entertainment

practice facility to the AHL Calder Cup Champion Houston Aeros hockey team.

Sugar Land Town Square
Sugar Land Town Square is a place where you walk everywhere and find anything.
This 32-acre, pedestrian-oriented, main-street city center and a central
business district is within walking distance of stores, services, restaurants,
sidewalk cafes, entertainment and a hotel and conference center. Activities
attract people early in the morning until late at night.
Sugar Plum Market
Fort Bend Junior Service League members host this two-day shopping extravaganza
in November that includes lunch and dinner fashion shows, entertainment and
lots of unique booths with items for holiday shopping lists. FBJSL presented
$130,000 in proceeds from the 2009 market to four Fort Bend County charity
organizations.
Texas Bluebonnets
In early Spring the bluebonnet overwhelms central Texas with color. Just a short
drive West or Northwest of Fort Bend, some of the most beautiful state flowers greet motorists out for a weekend drive. The Texas State Department of Highways
and Public Transportation is committed to keeping the roadsides of Texas
beautiful—seeding, sowing and fertilizing literally tons of wildflower seed yearly. Texas
boasts the most active wildflower program of any state.
Festivals and events take place year-round in the centerpiece of Sugar Land Town
